Roundmusic is presenting a great bill featuring The New Up with Bay Area punk/pop/psychobilly "galactic pioneers" The Phenomenauts and San Francisco rock band Taxes. DJ Prince J (Maldroid/Longshot Massive Soundsystem) will spin between sets. Tickets are $12, doors open at 9pm (The New Up takes the stage at 10:30pm) and all ages are welcome. Up the hill from Golden Gate Park in the band's beloved rehearsal space (the "Pleasure Pad"), The New Up has been busy writing and recording new songs for our new release, co-produced with Jack Frost and due out in late 2012. To date we've crafted more than 40 song "sketches" and narrowed down 10 songs for inclusion in the upcoming album. Many of these new songs will be performed at the Rickshaw Stop on February 3. This show marks the band's first live performance since Envol et Macadam in Quebec City, one of the largest Canadian music festivals, in October 2011. Thanks to the amazing support from all of you, The New Up won a national contest and was selected by festival judges as one of 15 bands from 15 different countries to appear at the festival. The New Up was chosen to represent the U.S. and performed on the Envol et Macadam main stage, prior to headliners Jean LeLoup & the Last Assassins. Needless to say, we're very excited for the show this Friday, and it's the perfect way to kick-start your weekend - whether you're down with the Super Bowl or the Puppy Bowl on Sunday.
